19. Shreiner's Cemetery

also known as Concord Cemetery

Located on the southeast corner of Chestnut and Mulberry Streets.

History:

This cemetery was established in 1836 and opened to anyone regardless of religious affiliation or race. It was first known as Concord Cemetery, but changed to Shreiner's Cemetery in 1866.

Historical marker for Thaddeus Stevens. Stevens chose to be buried in this cemetery because at that time it was the only cemetery open to people of any ethnicity.
