Greider-Kreider Family Graveyard,
Lancaster Twp., Lancaster Co., PA

Located west of New Danville Pike (Rt. 324), north of the Conestoga River.

History:

  • Earliest recorded burial - 1794
  • Latest recorded burial - 1846

This burial plot includes the families of Michael Greider (-1788) and Elizabeth Hess (-1800) and Michael Greider (1759-1825) and Susanna Hess Huber (1763-1833). It was located on a high point about 400 yards north of the the "Old Second Lock Mill Site".

According to Tom Shenk (via Gloria Kreider Bowman), the cemetery was moved out of an orchard years ago. Six headstones were placed in a cement square. In 1994 only [four] headstones remain and the bottom portion of another.

The original burial plot probably contained the grave of Jacob Greider (ca.1693-1758), immigrant from Ittlingen, Germany.
