Shank Family Graveyard,
Lancaster Twp., Lancaster Co., PA

Located west of New Danville Pike (Rt. 324), behind farm buildings.

History:

  • Earliest recorded burial - 1725
  • Latest recorded burial - 1908
  • William F. Worner, vol. 3, p.50-58.

    "The Shank graveyard, 50 feet by 50 feet, was on the farm of Charles P. Helm, in Lancaster township, according to Worner in 1935. It is about half a mile south of Lancaster City, near the South Sewage Treatment Works, and a few hundred hundred yards west of the New Danville Pike. It's situated in a little valley not far from the farm buildings. In 1935, the graveyard was encolsed by an iron fence, five feet high, having an iron gate and in excellent condition." (Worner)

  • Worner counted 33 head stones and 27 foot stones.
